If you caught the New York band Widowspeak opening for Iron & Wine at Hoyt Sherman Place last month than you saw Iowan Willy Muse playing bass with the band. Muse is an ISU grad and brother of Ramona Muse of Ramona and The Swimsuits.

Widowspeak will be performing at Vaudeville Mews on Oct. 29, the same date the band’s new album “The Swamps” is released. Tickets are $10.

On Nov. 8 Ezra Furman will bring his new band, The Boy-Friends to Vaudeville Mews. Touring with Furman is Des Moines musician Jorgen Jorgensen-Briggs, who is playing bass with the band and who also played on Furman’s new album, “Day of the Dog. Tickets to that show are $10.

Opening that show will be Derek Lambert, who is also a member of Ramona and The Swimsuits. Everything is connected through the Muse family.
