Where you can see the 2014 Best Picture nominees in Des Moines

This morning the Academy Award nominations were announced and this weekend those films will see a surge in activity as movie fans rush to see the movies for the first/second/third time.

There are nine films nominated for Best Picture, and all of them are currently showing in Des Moines.

“American Hustle”: Wynnsong, Jordan Creek, Cobblestone, Southridge, CopperCreek, Ankeny Springwood, Fleur Cinema

“Captain Phillips”: Wynnsong

“Dallas Buyers Club”: Wynnsong, Jordan Creek

“Gravity”: Wynnsong, Jordan Creek, Southridge

“Her”: Wynnsong, Jordan Creek, Fleur Cinema

“Nebraska”: Fleur Cinema

“Philomena”: Fleur Cinema

“12 Years a Slave”: Southridge, Wynnsong, Jordan Creek

“The Wolf of Wall Street”: CopperCreek, Cobblestone, Ankeny Springwood, Wynnsong, Jordan Creek

If you want to see this year’s best documentary nominees, three of them are currently streaming on Netflix: “The Act of Killing,” “Cutie and the Boxer,” “Dirty Wars.” “The Square” was also nominated and was produced by Netflix, but it won’t be available to stream until Friday. That means “20 Feet From Stardom” is the only film in that category that won’t be available to stream on Netflix.
