Viva Las Bacon: New theme for 2014 Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival and when to get your Bacon Fest tickets

If you want to get married at the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, 2014 could be your year.

Tickets for the seventh annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will go on sale at 12:12 p.m. on Dec. 12.  The event will be held Feb. 1 in the Elwell, Varied Industries and Jacobson buildings at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This year’s theme is “Viva Las Bacon: What happens at baconfest…,” and yes, some lucky couples will be able to get married in a Vegas-themed “Chapel O’ Bacon.”

“Vegas taught us that it’s okay to enjoy life’s guilty pleasures every now and then; and Elvis showed us that bacon goes particularly well with peanut butter and bananas,” said festival co-founder Brooks Reynolds. “We sit on the shoulders of these bacon giants, and it’s about time somebody stood up and did something to honor them both.”

The 2013 Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival sold out in less than four minutes. In 2014 the festival will have space for 12,000 rabid bacon fans.
