Twelve thousand Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival tickets sold out in 42 minutes

The 2013 Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival sold out 8,000 in four minutes when tickets went on sale last year. The festival bumped up space to allow 12,000 bacon fans in 2014, and tickets lasted 10 times as long.

Still, there aren’t many local events that sell 12,000 tickets in 42 minutes.

Tickets were purchased from 41 states as well as China, Brazil and Denmark. At the three minute mark it briefly appeared that tickets were sold out, but it was due to a technical error.

“Those bacon-lovers who stuck with it were able to purchase their tickets up until the official sold-out time of 42 minutes,” Brooks Reynolds, chair of the Iowa Bacon Board, said in a press release.

General admission tickets and tables are sold out, but there are still tickets remaining to three Bacon Elegance dinners, which includes a ticket to the festival, as well as Bacon University and Viva Las Bacon wedding packages. They can be purchased at blueribbonbaconfestival.com
