Wednesday: Rapper T.I. was supposed to perform at VEISHEA before things got a bit rioty, but he’ll be back to perform at 8 p.m. at the Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines. T.I. is known for hits like “What You Know,” Bring ‘Em Out” and “Swagga Like Us.” His latest album, “Paperwork: The Motion Picture,” is due out sometime this year. $40-$65 tickets can be purchased here.

10,000 Maniacs and BoDeans

Friday and Saturday: The Des Moines Arts Festival features three days of free music in addition to art, with big names headlining Friday and Saturday. On Friday, 10,000 Maniacs, pictured, performs at 8:30 p.m. The band is best known for hits like “Because the Night” and “These Are The Days.” The BoDeans, with breakthrough hit “Closer to Free,” takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Ankeny Unplugged

Saturday: Ankeny Unplugged closes out its 2014 season with a show headlined by David Zollo & the Body Electric at 5 p.m. at Wagner Park, 410 W. First St., Ankeny. Volcano Boys and Dylan Sires and Neighbors also perform. $5. Go to

Dark Star Orchestra

Monday: Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra returns at 8 p.m. at the Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines. The Chicago band picks specific sets played by the Dead and recreates them live. DSO is good enough that former member John Kadlecik was plucked from the group to play with the Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh and Bob Weir in the band Further. $20 in advance here, $25 day of show.
