Three questions with Derek Lambert

Derek Lambert, 27, performs at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Vaudeville Mews, 212 Fourth St.
Q: There haven’t been a lot of Prairie Fires shows this year. How have you been filling your time, musically?
I’ve been writing some solo stuff every now and then. I’m also working on a new band, Dean & The Delilahs; we’ll be going on tour with Leslie & The Ly’s, which I also play in. Usually we make up our own opening acts on tour, and this is one I’ll be fronting. But other than that I’m trying to do a little more solo performing every now and then.
Q: You’re also in Ramona & The Swimsuits. How did you decide on your swimsuit for performances?
Ramona (Muse) made all those. She just had a swimsuit ready for me at practice one time and I agreed to wear it. It’s a little more masculine than it could have been.
Q: What else do you have in the works at the moment?
I think I’ll probably be recording a solo album soon. The first thing I did was just a tape-recording of myself done on a four track, and I’ve been doing some demos like that again. I might do another record like that soon. I might also play some more acoustic-style shows. This week I think will be a trio with Dustin Harmson and Elliot Imes. I’m trying to go through the different styles that I like and switch things up to keep it interesting.
