Three places for Lenten fish fry dinners in Des Moines

If you’re looking for a place to gather with friends and family during Lent for a nice fish fry dinner, then here are three suggestions from the Diocese of Des Moines:

Basilica of St. John

When: Every Friday from March 7 to April 11 at 4:30-7 p.m. in the parish hall.

Location: 1915 University Ave.

Menu: Fried catfish or seasoned baked Pollock, three side dishes, bread, dessert and drink.

Cost: $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-10 and free for children ages 3 and under.

Christ the King Parish in Des Moines

When: Every Friday from March 7 to April 11 at 5-7 p.m. in the parish hall

Location: 5711 SW 9th Street and Park Ave.

Menu: Baked and fried fish, baked potatoes, vegetable, salad or cole slaw, rolls, dessert and beverages.

Cost: $8 for adults, $4 for children 4-12.

St. Mary of Nazareth

Location: 4600 Meredith Drive

When: Every Friday from March 7 to April 11 at 4:30-7 p.m. in the Jerry Ryan Hall

Menu: Fried or baked fish, macaroni and cheese, baked potato, french fries, green beans, corn, roll, butter, desserts, beer, wine, coffee and lemonade.

Cost: $15 per couple, $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
