Tattoo bodyscapes: Jayla Clark, 23

Who inks her: Taylor Made of Color Works Tattoo and Body Piercing, Valley West Mall, 1551 Valley West Drive, West Des Moines.

Amount of work done: 30-40 hours.

Her day job: Clark is a preschool teacher. “I cover my tattoos up at work. I can’t really show them. But people who have seen them outside of work have brought it up with me.”

A love of movies: “I’m a ‘Star Wars’ fan (she has several Star Wars tattoos). I love them all. It’s something I grew up with. I’m a movie buff in general.”

Why she gets tattoos: “Each piece makes me feel more like who I am, more comfortable in my skin. They make me feel better, I guess. It’s therapeutic, it really is.”

Tattoo goal: “I plan on being covered. They’re all there, they’re just not on my skin yet.”

Next tattoo: “I want to finish my leg sleeves. I have a dark and a light side.”
