If you’re like me, you’re dreaming of sunshine and new sunglasses for the spring and summer season. With a plethora of frame shapes and colors it’s hard to pick just one pair. No matter if you’re bound for the beach, brunch, or a weekend getaway, sunglasses are the perfect accessory to put the finishing touch on any outfit. Modeled by Rachel Bascom, 24.

Aviators

This Top Gun-inspired style ($155) is a classic shape that continues to be a big trend in 2014. Perfect for everyday occasions, the curved frames of aviators generally flatter most face shapes. If you have a strong jaw or pointy chin, go for more of an oval aviator lens.

Find them: Sunglass Hut, lower level of Jordan Creek Mall, 101 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines.

Cat eye

Thank goodness for the ’50s and ’60s — they gave us the timeless cat-eye shape. These cat-eye sunnies ($295) sculpt and lift a heart-shaped, oval, round, or square face. If you have an oblong face shape, use caution when wearing this style.

Find them: Proper, inside Badowers, 2817 Ingersoll Ave.

Retro round

Fashion’s most elite are sporting the popular retro-round sunglass style. With vintage-flair it’s a style fit for everyday and the everygirl. Rock this style ($329) if you have an oval, oblong or square face shape. Perfectly circled frames complement the defined lines of an angular face.

Find them: Proper, inside Badowers, 2817 Ingersoll Ave.

Pop of color

Every girl needs a pop-color pair to liven up her look. These ($295) are a girl’s go-to shades for a fun day at the beach or a perfect compliment to energize a simple summer outfit.

Find them: Proper, inside Badowers, 2817 Ingersoll Ave.
