Sbrocco is closing, Shorty’s continues (for now)

This week Full Court Press, owner of Hessen Haus, The Royal Mile, El Bait Shop and other locations, announced it would be closing the wine bar and restaurant Sbrocco after operating for six years at 208 Court Ave.

Full Court Press partner Jeff Bruning said construction in the area, Tonic opening next door and a renewed focus on Court Ave. made it seem like a good time to put the building up for sale.

“We bought it as an investment and as an opportunity for the future,” Bruning said. “We feel like now is the perfect time. It’s a positive thing for us, and a positive opportunity for someone else. We figure if we cut that one loose, our ship can sail.”

The last night of dinner at Sbrocco will be March 15. Bruning said Shorty’s, the bar located in Sbrocco’s basement, will continue to operate for the time being.
