Sasquatch! Music Festival doubles up, creates conflicts for potential 80/35 bands

Published on February 4th, 2014 | by Joe Lawler

For the last decade+ the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington has been held over Memorial Day weekend, meaning there has been no conflict with bands that might play 80/35 in July. But the festival just announced that it’s adding a second weekend. Unlike Coachella, the weekends are spread apart, with different lineups for each one.

Sasquatch!’s second weekend will be July 4-6, in direct conflict with the July 4-5 80/35 Music Festival in Des Moines.

If the festivals were closer together, this might help 80/35, with bands routing through the area. Each year 80/35 pulls in a few bands on their way to or from Summerfest in Milwaukee, and the short-lived Rothbury festival had a similar effect. But with Sasquatch being on the west coast, it means the following bands are unlikely to be available unless very special arrangements are made:

Kraftwerk, Frank Ocean, Neutral Milk Hotel, Soundgarden, New Order, Röyksopp and Robyn, Spoon, Local Natives, Broken Bells, Tegan and Sara, of Montreal,Sharon Van Etten, Atmosphere, The Horrors, Kurt Vile, F**k Buttons, Dr. Dog, Action Bronson, St. Lucia, Cloud Nothings, Foxygen, Deltron 3030, Mac DeMarco, Palma Violets, Mikal Cronin, Jon Hopkins, Oneohtrix Point Never, Rhye, Majical Cloudz, Cass McCombs, The Notwist,  Lee Fields and the Expressions, METZ, Typhoon, Big Gigantic, Gogol Bordello, Wild Cub, Black Milk.

The 80/35 Music Festival normally announces its lineup in April.
