Remember Philip Seymour Hoffman with these great Netflix options
Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away yesterday of a suspected drug overdose. The actor has been nominated for multiple Academy Awards, winning for his 2005 turn in “Capote.”
Several of Hoffman’s films are available to stream on Netflix. Here are a few highlights.
“Hard Eight” (1996): Hoffman just had a small role in this film, but it was his first feature with Paul Thomas Anderson, who he went on to work with in “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” “The Master” and “Punch Drunk Love.”
“The Talented Mr. Ripley” (1999): Hoffman had a supporting role in this thriller about a young psychopath, Ripley (Matt Damon) who attempts to take over the life of a Princeton grad (Jude Law). Hoffman plays one of Law’s friends, who is suspicious of Ripley.
“A Late Quartet” (2012): Hoffman stars as a second violinist who wishes to move up to the first chair in a quartet that includes Christopher Walken, Catherine Keener and Mark Ivanir.
Other films featuring Hoffman on Netflix: “Mary and Max,” “Salinger,” “Leap of Faith” and “Punch Drunk Love.” Credit goes to Des Moines Register news designer Nicole Bogdas for posting a list of available Hoffman films yesterday on Facebook.
