Party with the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network

Published on January 13th, 2014 | by Josh Hafner

For a year now, the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Des Moines has brought together YPs in the not-for-profit world to connect, learn and develop in their careers.

On Tuesday, it brings them together to party.

YNPN Des Moines’ First Birthday Bash will celebrate the organization’s one-year anniversary Tuesday at Jasper Winery with food, door prizes and fun.

“It’s not going to be a super-formal program or anything. Definitely like an open house,” said YNPN Co-Chair Brianne Sanchez. “It’s an opportunity to meet a group of people who want to change the world, starting with our own community.”

Highlights planned for the party, per Sanchez: free mini-cupcakes from Scratch Cupcakery; hand-lettered, limited-edition buttons by local artist Anna Frederick;  drinks from Jasper’s cash bar; a showcase of YNPN’s 2013 highlights and its plans for the upcoming year.

Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines President Kristi Knous will give an address.Attendees can also sign up as a charter-member with YNPN Des Moines. Yearly dues are $35 for the group, Sanchez said, and on Tuesday will come with a YNPN swag bag.

People of all professional backgrounds are invited to attend, Sanchez said, whether they work with nonprofits, serve with them, or just want to meet new peers.

“It won’t be super schmoozy-networky,” Sanchez promised. “But it will be a good time.”

5-8 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 14 at Jasper Winery, 2400 George Flagg Parkway. Free. See more on Facebook
