Millionaire Jay-Z losing cred among broke millennials, poll finds

Atlanta Blackstar reports that hip hop artist and mogul Jay-Z (aka Hova aka Jigga aka Shawn Carter) is losing cred among millennials. The finding is based on a recent survey of young people by Jeetendr Sehdev, a celebrity branding expert, the site reports:

Sehdev surveyed over 1,000 millennials and discovered that Jay Z ranked relatively low in area of trustworthiness and honesty compared to other popular celebrities.

Jay Z “scored 70 percent lower in the categories of trustworthiness and honesty than did celebrities like actors Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Lawrence,” Sehdev said.

Sehdev said that his research revealed that Jay Z’s image has become one of pursuing money and business ventures “seemingly however he can.”

Whoah, whoah, whoah. You’re telling me that Jay-Z, a 44-year-old worth $475-million, is failing to connect with debt-laden 20 and 30somethings living with their parents in a weak job market?

Makes sense, I guess. While gen-Xer Jay-Z calls himself a king, millennial artists are topping charts with songs about never being royals and shopping at thrift shops.
