Macklemore & Ryan Lewis coming to Wells Fargo Arena

Published on June 24th, 2013 | by Joe Lawler

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have seen huge leaps in popularity over the last year, especially for independent artists. In December they played 7 Flags Event Center in Clive. On Oct. 30 they’ll return to play Wells Fargo Arena, the state’s largest venue.

Their 2012 album, “The Heist,” has sold more than half a million copies. “Thrift Shop” became only the second song in Billboard’s history from an unsigned artist to hit No. 1. on the Hot 100 chart.

It also makes a rare appearance by hip hop at Wells Fargo Arena. The Black Eyed Peas played there in 2010. Macklemore also played Des Moines in 2010, at the 230 capacity Vaudeville Mews.

Talib Kweli and Big K.R.I.T. open. Tickets are $34.50-$45 and go on sale Friday through dahlstickets.com.
