Jason Aldean on the influence of the Everly Brothers

Published on January 6th, 2014 | by Joe Lawler

I just got off the phone with Jason Aldean and decided to open with a question about if the Everly Brothers had any influence on his music. Later in their career Phil and Don Everly moved toward more of a country sound, and Elvis, Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers had an impact on the sound of country as well as rock.

His answer:

“I think that in a roundabout way they probably did. My dad and his brother both sang and played guitar and tried to harmonize together becaue they were big fans of the Everly Brothers.

“So as a kid I would listen to them play and remember hearing them do those songs. For me it was probably one of those things that got me interested in music at an early age; hearing songs like that and my dad and his brother trying to harmonize like Phil and Don. I just didn’t realize it at the time.”
