How to tailgate in Ames, see Iowa teams at home

Public parking lots open six hours prior to kickoff (11 a.m.). There is no overnight parking. Cars and pickups pay $20 to park, while RVs, buses and vehicles with trailers pay $40.

General public parking is located around Hilton Coliseum, north of Jack Trice Stadium. If you want to park closer, you’re going to have to pay, with costs ranging from $100 for the season (if you don’t mind a walk) to $12,500 if you want primo parking adjacent to the stadium entrance.

The rules

If you’re tailgating, you can use only one space. You can’t hold a space for your buddy’s car, so try to arrive together. You can’t smoke in the lots, and you can’t make fires using wood. No glass bottles, kegs or beer bongs (denied!) are allowed. Stick with cans, thermoses and flasks and you should be fine.

Also, clean up after yourselves, you filthy animals.
