Editor’s note: The recruitment event is rescheduled for March 6.

The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, a longstanding organization aimed at equipping  the area’s future leaders, is now accepting nominations for its 2015 community leadership program class.

Alumni of the institute and current participants have until midnight at March 17 to nominate participants. The nine-month program aims to develop leaders by heightening awareness of community issues and developing leadership skills.

The institute will ask nominees to hand in a formal application in June. Participants from private, public and nonprofit fields will be chosen based on areas of career, leadership and community involvement. The program begins in August.

Those wanting to know more can attend a free recruitment event at Glen Oaks Country Club March 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Contact the institute’s director, Amy Jennings, at (515) 286-4980 or director@gdmli.com with questions.
