Not into cooking? Here are a few places to grab some grub on Christmas Day.
AJ’s Steakhouse: If you’re looking for a more formal dinner than the Prairie Meadows’ Triple Crown Eatery buffet, AJ’s Steakhouse at the casino will be open in the evening with a Steak Diane special. Location: 1 Prairie Meadows Drive, Altoona Hours: 4-9 p.m.

Coda Lounge: For a cozy, upscale meal including delicious cocktails, try Coda Lounge, located in the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel. Coda is serving its full menu on Christmas Day, including flat bread pizzas and fish and chips. Location: 401 Locust St. Hours: 6:30 a.m. to midnight

China One International Buffet: In the classic movie “A Christmas Story,” the family has to eat dinner at a Chi nese restaurant after the Bumpuses’ dogs (“Bump uses!”) devour the family’s turkey on Christmas Day. For your own “Christmas Story” moment, try China One International Buffet, which features a variety of Chinese dishes as well as some American and Mexican favorites. Where: 2301 Ingersoll Ave. Hours: 11 a.m -9:30 p.m.

Perkins: Many metro Perkins locations will be open on Christmas Day. The chain restaurant serves breakfast all day. Or you could try for an imitation of Grandma’s holiday meal with a turkey and dressing dinner.
