Five places to get grilling, reader recipes

So you’ve decided to grill your own meat. Congratulations! Now you just need to figure out where to find some awesome cuts to get sizzling on your new Weber. We’ve also included a few restaurants where you can grill your own steaks, after you’ve burned through a few “experiments” at home.

B&B Grocery, Meat & Deli, 2001 S.E. Sixth St. —
B&B makes awesome sandwiches and burgers with its meat, but the butcher also does custom cut beef, poultry and pork.

Linn’s Super Market, 3805 Sixth Ave. — Supermarkets have gotten huge over the years, but Linn’s has stayed the same size for decades. The secret? An awesome meat section.

Fareway, 3000 S.E. 22nd St. and 100 E. Euclid Ave., plus other locations in the suburbs — Fareway is known for its full-service meat department. If you have a question about meat that they can’t answer, you must be trying to grill a unicorn or something.

Grill your own

Iowa Beef Steakhouse, 1201 E. Euclid Ave. — You know that awkward dining moment when the conversation dies down and you’re still waiting for your food? You don’t get that at Iowa Beef, because you’re the one cooking dinner.

Rube’s Steakhouse, 330 Ute Ave., Waukee — Rube’s provides tips on grilling so that you don’t shell out a ton of cash for the 54 ounce Belly Buster, only to overcook it.

Your recipes

We asked you on social media to share your recipes. Here are two that we’re looking forward to trying out:

Dejah Thompson, 33: Stuffed grilled mushrooms: First, you marinate your mushrooms in a mixture of lemon juice and soy sauce. Then, you stuff them with a mixture of Italian cheese blend, chopped Kalamata olives, minced garlic, olive oil and tomatoes.

Joel McCarty, 26: Potato grenades: Take an apple corer and core out a potato from top to bottom. Then, stuff it with whatever you like. You could try veggies with cheese, but my favorite is blue cheese crumbles with asparagus and some shredded cheese. After that, you wrap it in foil and put it on the grill.
