Avett Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Ziggy Marley and more to play Sioux City’s Saturday in the Park

For more than 20 years Sioux City has had a free concert the first Saturday of July, Saturday in the Park, featuring some impressive acts. Wilco, Ben Harper, Santana and B.B. King have all headlined the event. This year’s event is July 5 with The Avett Brothers topping the bill and Bonnie Raitt, Ziggy Marley and Wild Feathers playing the show. More bands will be announced at a later date.
The concert is held in Grandview Park in Sioux City. It draws around 50,000 people each year. Marley is also a past headliner for the show.
The show does fall on the second Day of 80/35. I’m a bit hesitant to do much 80/35 speculation with this announcement, simply because Saturday in the Park and 80/35 have only shared a main stage act once before: Grace Potter in 2011. I don’t see any conflicts yet for the Avetts, but given the proximity of this show and the fact that they just headlined 80/35 three years ago, I wouldn’t count on them. Rait isn’t what most would consider an 80/35 headliner. Marley could fit, and he doesn’t have any conflicts listed at the moment. Same for Americana acts The Wild Feathers.
