Anvil is coming to House of Bricks

Anvil is a band that has been around for more than 30 years and has been cited as an influence by bands like Metallica and Megadeth. Despite that, they were largely unknown until the release of the documentary “Anvil! The Story of Anvil,” which is essentially “This is Spinal Tap,” but not a mockumentary.

Anvil plays the House of Bricks on May 6. Tickets are $15 through ticketfly.com.

The film is great and helped renew interest in the band, but I’m sure a career revival coming from a documentary like that has to be a mixed bag. No one wants to be “The Real Spinal Tap.” But if it gets the music out to more fans, whether they enjoy it ironically or not, it’s got to be better than toiling in obscurity. Plus, it’s a really good movie.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem to be available for steaming on Netflix anymore.
