Alba’s chef, owner to open Eatery A on Ingersoll Avenue

The former Blockuster video store on Ingersoll Avenue will be turned into a restaurant called Eatery A. Scheduled to open early next year, Jason Simon, chef and owner at Alba restaurant in Des Moines’ East Village, bought the property a year ago.
The pasta will be handmade and fresh, and the pizzas will be cooked in a wood-fired oven now under construction, Simon told the Register. Alba chef Nicholas Gonwa is creating the menu, which will offer entrees in the $15 range. There will be half and full portions available.
